Two reminders:
- Remember to post a 2-3 sentence reaction to what you read in our extensive reading time today by midnight on Tuesday. Also, post 1 comment on someone else's post about their extensive reading (also by midnight on Tuesday).
- Did you email your first choice professor? Did you hear back?
My first professor has not replied yet, I emailed him on Wednesday night, so when I should send an email to my second choice?
ReplyDeleteHi, I have a little concern about the extensive reading. You said that we should write our reaction on Tuesday, but I think it is not convenient for all students because we don't have enough time to read. Also, my reading speed is not the same as native readers, so I don't have reaction to write on Tuesday. In my opinion, we can write our summary on Friday or later on weekday.
ReplyDeleteFor example, today I could not finish reading chapter 1, but I need to write my reaction, and I don't feel good when I am writing my reaction.
ReplyDeleteI also posted this comment on Temuulen's blog, but I wanted to repost it here so others could see in case they're having the same questions:
DeleteThanks for your questions about these reactions. The point of extensive reading is that you can go at your own speed. Your reactions then, are just about the part you read that day. There is no requirement about how fast you have to read sections, or what you have to react to. Just go at your own pace and post about the section you were able to read. That is the difference between intensive and extensive reading. In lower levels, you do intensive reading (where you have to read a certain amount, and then you are tested on it). In extensive reading, you read to understand and to use the information. You are not tested on it, and you can read at your own speed (just like you do in your home language). Does that help answer your question?
